2017 OVER THE SEA

This programme introduced several concepts to do with the idea of being part of a music or theatre ensemble and how individuals can work as a group. We worked on teaching our participants to sing together with an emphasis on pitch and delivery of text. These are difficult skills for young people with Down Syndrome to master. We developed a music theatre work creating songs and characters around the idea of sea journeys and new beginnings. We offered participants the chance to engage with a professional costume designer and physical theatre specialist. Another important element was the development of mentoring and training volunteers to work specifically with young people with Down Syndrome.
